Investing in Healthcare

  • Funding for expansion of Batson Children’s Hospital at UMMC

  • Implement Woodrow Wilson Avenue and Medical Mall Area Health Care Industry Zones

  • Medicaid expansion to insure 25,000 more working Jacksonians and create hundreds of healthcare jobs

Investing in the Central City  

  • Re-enact Mississippi Historic Tax Credits to incentivize commercial and residential renovation in historic neighborhoods

  • Focus the Mississippi Development Authority and Mississippi Home Corporation on business expansion and new housing in central Jackson.

Investing in Flood Control and Lakefront Recreation

  • Implement One Lake flood control project, to include recreational opportunities and residential development

Investing in Downtown Jackson

  • Complete Capitol Street project to make downtown a more pedestrian-friendly place to live, shop and eat.

  • Recruit and finance new Convention Center Hotel

  • Redesign and renovation of Smith Park 

Protecting Our Neighborhoods

  • Provide additional circuit court judge and assistant district attorney for Hinds County

  • Pass Community Improvement District legislation so neighborhood property owners can fund needed services to improve quality of life

Ensuring State Government Pays its Fair Share

  • Calculate the city revenue lost from property tax exemptions for state buildings and return those funds to the City for critical water, sewer and street resurfacing projects

  • Calculate the city expense for emergency and special events police and fire protection for state events and facilities and return those funds that to the City.  

Preparing for the Future

  • Fully fund Mississippi Adequate Education Program to provide $11 million more annually to Jackson Public Schools

  • Fund workforce development and training measures at Jackson Public School District and Hinds Community College
